Forbes Team Challenge 2024

Join us for the Forbes Team Challenge at the heart of Australia’s Flatland Flying in Forbes, NSW.

This competition aims to foster learning in a relaxed environment, enhance competition flying skills in a team setting, and ensure everyone has a great time!

Taking place amidst Forbes' spring conditions, this friendly competition offers support from some of Australia’s most experienced pilots, providing an excellent opportunity to learn and grow.

Each team will consist of a mix of single surface, intermediate, advanced and team leader pilots, ensuring a balanced and rewarding experience for all participants.

Mission: The home of Australia's flat-land hang gliding and one of the world's greatest flat-land hang gliding locations invites you to experience the thrill of competitive hang gliding, to enhance your flying skills and to further enjoy the great camaraderie of hang gliding.

When:

• When: NSW Labour Day Long weekend
• Registration, Practice Day, Welcome Party: Friday 4th October
• Competition Days Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October
• Presentation Sunday Evening 6th October
• Monday 7th as reserve /free fly day

Where: BMIA Bill Moyes International Airport (The paddock north of the Forbes Airport) Via 'Dr Young Drive'.

Who: Open to all pilots with current SAFA membership, Aerotow and VHF Endorsement.

Entry Fee: $400

Headquarters: Forbes Aero Club

Camping: Camping is available at the Aeroclub for $10 per person per night, payable to the Aeroclub.

Equipment: What you need:

• Hang Glider (well maintained!)
• Harness (well maintained)
• GPS or GPS/vario
• Tow release and bridle
• Recently repacked parachute
• Helmet
• Current HGFA membership
• VHF Rating and equipment
• Aero tow Rating

The Team Challenge: There will be 1 team leader and 5 team members of varying experience, per team.
All supervised, intermediate, and advanced pilots are welcome. 

Each morning, we set an achievable task, you launch all together and fly with your team to get to goal and are scored according to your glider category with a handicap system.

As a pilot you get a taste of competition experience, briefing, weather, using your instruments, flying a course, making goal, downloading and scoring.

Whether you want to taste the competition experience, hone your cross country or thermalling skills, set a few PB's, come along for a fun long weekend.
